Cheap, Quality Exhaust...?
Hi all. New to the forums... I dont know much about cars, so help would be awesome.
First a little about my car:
2002 Civic LX
5 spd.
Coupe
46,000 miles.
STOCK STOCK STOCK.
First thing I wanna do is put a exhaust in. Im a 19 year old POOR college student supporting myself, so cat-back is completely out of the question.
I want something that has a deep growly sound. (Like a WRX). I want it to be noticeably loud... However, I dont wanna buy the cheapest crappy muffler: ie: OBX, APC, Maxspeed.
I did a little research and found that Magna-Flow was one of the cheapest name-brand mufflers out there. My current budget is anything under $130. The lower the price is, the more days I can probably be eating out instead of instant noodles...
If you guys have any other suggestions or anything, that will be great.
Thanks!

get the hks hi-power and piping from Meinke, Midas, etc., thats what I have. if u buy something cheap (like magnaflow) it'll sound cheap. the HKS axleback isnt expensive, it sounds great, it fits perfectly, and it installs with a hand ratchet wrench in about 20min. if u dont spend the extra money dont spend any money at all. my friend has an '05 2dr with a magnaflow muffler and it sounds quiet but crappy. which is im sure the opposite of ur intent.

your comparing a turbo application vehicle to a civic, it will always sound diff.
if your stock and weld on a muffler, it wont be loud, a member here had his tanabe universal muffler welded on and he wanted louder. that tells me welding on just a muffler doesnt make it very loud, which is reasonable/believeable.
if your poor and money is an issue, i would keep saving. your in college and that time of life will probably dictate your future and careers. take care of your education first then start spending yourself on some goodies.
i would wait til someone sells a used hks hi-power axel back. if you just want sound, an short ram intake will do imo. $30 ebay ones or $100 for brand new AEM thats guaranteed

imo too about that....don't go exhaust way...it's quite pricey....and you need a whole package for it to sound real good and perform the same way..
i vote for an intake.....AEM or K&N short intake probably a better option for you..
