Question about resizing exhaust
I was wondering if anyone has ever resized the inlet of a muffler from 80mm to 60mm. The custom shop said they can make it smaller and adjust it down, is this okay?

Rep Power: 321 How come? wouldn't it just be like the smaller size inlet? I'm going to be going from 3" down 2.25, how bad will it hurt?

3"?!??!!? im hoping u have a turbo to be runing that big of exhaust piping, cause that size piping on any car that doesnt have huge power is just MURDERING ur torque and horsepower... ur 1st goal should be to get rid of that size piping and change EVERYTHING to 2.25".
re-reading the original post... Is your Muffler size 3" or ur piping 3"... if the muffler is 3", and piping is 2.25"... and yes making ur muffler smaller to fit the piping would be VERY smart, u wont see any power gains, but u can still use the muffler. If u have 3" piping... get rid of it.

Rep Power: 321 No i don't have 3" piping, I knew not to ever run that unless I have Turbo, but the pipe was a steal and couldn't pass it up, cause the shop told me I could resize the inlet of the muffler. Its the Tanabe Tuner Medallion. So it will be like I just but the 60mm?

Rep Power: 321 You think the muffler will look funny on the car, it doesn't have a body kit on it yet. can it tuck up there so it doesn't hang down and see the entire muffler.

Rep Power: 0 all depends how u get it mounted. at shops then can weld it on any angle u choose( within limits tho), so just be there when they are installing it and direct them on how u want it. U also might want a little piece made to get it to exit on an angle to the side, or a vertical angle, which they will have to modify ur stock exhaust to do, but can still be done for relatively cheap.

Rep Power: 321 Is there any adavantages to installing it at an angle? Or just for looks? my stock bumper has a dip in it where the exhaust goes, would mounting it at an angle look bad like it wasn't supposed to be there.

Rep Power: 0 alot of people jsut think it looks cool, but there is no advantage. u can always make it fit that stock hole too, just dont get a 5" tip thing and u should be fine, it should also be able to come out on an angle with a hole already cut,.

Rep Power: 321 Yea i like it too, it has the 120mm tip on it, 80mm inlet but I'm having it sized down to 60mm.
