Rep Power: 0 thats an interesting question, might want to be careful testing it though since they are different displacement. not sure how much .1 L will do when chosing a camshaft but u never know.

Rep Power: 0 wouldn't it make a difference on the timing of your valves! depending on if your vtec head as well! as for timing, i would see there being a difference using a D16 cam! but then again i may be wrong?

Rep Power: 0 I could forsee the gear playing a role, but if you're taking the cam from a d16 into a d17, the gear shouldn't make any difference (take for example RWD ka24de in 240sx's...they are RWD so the dist doens't run off the cam, like it does in the Altima..however you can take altima cams and run them in the RWD engine..)
