please dont flame me if this was a joke that i fell victim to, but is there such a thing as a "light weight" battery? i was reading about weight reduction and obviously there could be room to improve with batteries...

Some of these are very small (considering their CCAa):

Rep Power: 0 I took my stock battery out one time and weighed it on the bathroom scale. I can't remember if it was 25 or 35lbs. I'll do it again tomorrow. I might get that one for $69 but what's the cold crankng amps and will it last for a while? Gotta research.

Rep Power: 287 normally when theres an issue of weight and battery people move the battery to the trunk... evens weight distribution...no reduction actually maybe a pound or two more for the extra wire but wtf take a pooper if a few pounds matters

Rep Power: 0 Well according to my bathroom scale the stock battery in my 04 weighs about 28lbs
So with the 69$ Genesis you could probally save around 15-17lbs.
Now add a carbon fiber hood and lightweight racing sets and that should be good for over 50lbs.

Rep Power: 0 no but remove 10 or 20 things that weigh 10lbs and it will make a difference. By itself you won't feel a thing.
If your serious about racing every little bit helps.
