FIPK II vs. Injen w/heat wrap
This is kind of like a previous post of mine but i'd like to get some specific thoughts from you guys.
FIPK II is good cuz it's plastic and plastic is better at insulating the cool air from the intake than the metal, but if the injen takes air in from a source further out/colder AND i heat wrap it, which do you guys think would be better?

hmm, im not sure if that heat wrap actually works. but i dont have expierence with it so i cant say anything.
i'd personally go with the firk II so i dont have to worry about water/floods and their one of the best intakes on the market.

Heat wrap is prolly better because it reflects heat. The plastic just doesn't get hot as fast, although it will eventually. The fipk also has a heat shield around the filter, but that's like keepin the filter away from engine heat. Only thing bad about cold air is the filter gets alot dirtier and may suck in water.
OK sorry guys i should have been more specific. I was only wondering about performance gains. I dont care about water cuz my car is only a summer time sunny day car and as far as the filter getting dirty...no big deal, but keep the replies coming guys

Thermal wrap works. I have mine taped. The only problem is the injen is a shitty fit and the car rubs holes in the pipe in several spots.
yes AEM is what i gave to my GF and even the CAI version is a snap. Just put the 2 halves together and install THEN put the filter on. took all of 10 mins.
And as far as heatwrapping the FIPK II i thought that the only reason it was better HP #s is because it was already insulated by the plastic instead, so thats why i was saying to heatwrap the injen since technically it would be pulling in even colder air than the FIPK and then if i insulated it it would give more power. But i'm looking for info from members that know

Thats the point I was trying to make, that It may not be worth the effort or cost to do it.

Did you guys see the dyno I posted of the injen on LX? Gave a little better gain than the fipk with no loss anywhere on the powerband. If you want cold air, this is the best.
performance wise, do you think the AEM standard cold air is any better than the V2. I know the V2 is a short ram but its supposed to have some "sound wave technology" that makes up for it. Also which one sounds better, b/c i heard they both sound a little ricy

They all sound similar. I had the AEM sri and it was terrible. V2 seems to be the same design, except two sizes of piping. That sound wave technology is a joke they made up to make their intake cool. The stock resonator creates harmonics that match intake valve pulses, so it too has sound technology. lmao
Imo, don't get cold air unless you aren't worried about sucking in more dirt and water.
