Auto Intakes

I have a 2001 automatic coupe. I realize that CAI are better than Short Ram in general. But I always hear about problems with CAI's in automatic cars can anyone with knowledge on this clear it up for me? Because I'm looking at the InJen Race Division CAI and if it's going to give me problems I might as well stick with AEM Short Ram.

Dude....cold airs are not better than a short ram...trust me, I know.
Here's the real deal that no one will tell you except me.....our cars have VTEC engines....their power
lies in the upper RPM bands (4000 - redline) you've heard to them refered to as "high reving engines"....a cold air will give you lower
end power...so in a way, it defeats the purpose.....A short ram on the other hand, gives you more higher end power. So the short rams
are more effective on VTEC engines. A cold air is great....but they give you lower end power, lower end torque, and at the most, 1-2 more
horses. And another thing you don't hear much about is that cold airs give you colder air (maybe 5-10 degrees cooler) but a short ram gives you higher air
velocity when entering the engine. Hope that helps my man.

Thanx for making that clear. I guess I should go with AEM along with just about everyone else. I heard AEM works especially well with Honda, not sure whether or not it's true. But it seems from your post that CAI's are a waste on our rides.

I have an Auto EX with the AEM Short Ram...and after the RPMs hit 4000, that lil' bastard moves !!
You won't be disappointed in an AEM or an INjen intake. I have a short ram, with a K&N cold air filter, and it rocks !!

I prefer the SRI also, I think it's better tuned in at the right RPM's for my car. I had a flat spot in the acceleration when I first got my car, but the SRI took all the hesitation out.

Hey Antidote11... get your Eibachs on ?

No, not yet...I was at Jotech the other night and they damn near talked me into getting it, but I have to consider that Christmas
is coming up quick and I have a lot of gifts to buy you know. But I can't wait till I do.
I cleared my headlights out today with the help of WhiteRice, and they look sweet and it was easy as hell.....I definitely recommend it !!

Yeah.. I started to head over there this weekend, but I figured if I did, I'd drop a couple of hundred bucks and get the Eibachs put on, then I would have to head over to Discount Tire and buy some 16's or 17's and new rubber on the way home. I figured I'd better wait until after Christmas, my wife wouldn't kill be then!
