I think that if you keep good quality gas from name brand companies, you probably won't need to use it. Most large oil companies have additives and cleaners in the gas that do the same as those injector cleaners.
But if you get your gas and mom & pop stores with questionable quality gas, then I would recommend them at least every 5k miles.

The old BG stuff was a zact copy of techron, chevron gas does have techron in it and you can buy bottles of it too. There is better products available thou. Some may be hard for comsumers to get. But a friend of mine was the Wynns sales rep and ive used and seen what it does and it too is a very good product. Prolly best bet for consumer thou is use good quality gas and or buy some techron its prolly one of the best comsumer grade cleaner available
actually the additives you put into you gas to clean your injectors really wont do much. The stuff that gets on your injectors needs alot to get off. There is a chemical bath you need to soak the injectors in,in order to fully remove the gunk and its so powerful that if left on long enough it will melt plastic.I was reading a huge article all about it in a mag one day and it's not that expensive to send them out and get it done.but it was saying that for the most part those injector cleaners are a waste of $$$.

I used some stuff by 3M. The stuff worked well. I saw my mpg increase. City wen from 29 to about 33 and highway went from 33 to about 38. these are averages but I did see an increase for me.
I just wanted to reply on what I have seen about gas and purchasing it, I drove a gas tanker for a number of years and always used to hear people say there cars wouldnt run on gas from 1 praticular station or another, the fact is when you go to a refinery to pick up gas your in line with trucks from shell, chevron, amoco ect, You just hook up and pump your 8000 gallons into your truck and specify where the load goes such as amoco, shell, phillips ect, the computer makes out the paperwork to the location you provided and your gone, the fact that 1 companys fuel isnt as good as another or your car runs better on 1 than another isnt true. You might go to the same refinery and pick up gas all day long for 5 or 6 different name stations and its all bulk gas coming out of 1 tank going to different stations is all according to workers at the refinery, As far as getting bad gas at a mom and pop store it shouldnt matter what gas station it is from a mom and pop or multi island station. the thing that matters most is if you get gas when the gas truck is dumping fuel if there is water in the tank dumping 8000 gallons at a rate of 500 gallons a minute can mix up any water or dirt in the bottom of the tank and if your fueling at that time or a short time after the fuel truck has dumped a load of fuel the best chance of getting water or dirt in your fuel is at that time. While the water particles are in suspension or any dirt in the tank is floating. It will settle within a short time so keep this in mind, also the stations have the stick they use to check the level of gas and you put what appears to be grease on it and check to see how much water is in your tank, the substance on the stick turns yellow or whatever color they say depending on the manufacturer and detects how much water is in the tank and they measure it in inches. I can also tell you that some premium fuels are not true premium fuels they are a blend 60% regular and 40% premium, then the station may charge you for premiun and your getting 89 octane not a true premium so thats why some stations have premium for less than others so beware of that,
