Well does your car shake like hell when it runs? Cuz if it doesn't then the flywheel has to be balanced. Its pretty obvious when a rotating part isn't balanced... they tend to shake things apart.

There are 2 types of being balanced... the guy i am going to take my flywheel to to get it lightened said he is only able to do it to neutrally balanced flywheels. I really dont know what he is talking about, just hoping someone can tell me yes or no.

So what you really need to know is if the crankshaft is internally balanced. That would make the flywheel neutral balanced.
I can't say for sure with a D-series. I know other Honda engines are internally balanced, but I'd have to look around some more and see what I can turn up. Its tough to find superdetailed D-series info.
But why grind it down when a new lightened one is only $250-$300?
Hardly seems worth it to grind the stock one lighter, it'll make it weaker since your cutting out material thats designed to be there.
