HP Header installed (pics) EX DIY updated AGAIN with performance review
My HP shorty header experience...
thanks ironfist for the DIY. unfortunately i ran into trouble with that 4th bolt on the top of the header. didn't have a deep socket so the socket i used basically rounded the nut
. long story short had to go to a mechanic i knew and he ended up screwing me over for money. quoted me an hour then charged 2 hours
. so i payed $110CDN to install it
. whatever i only paid $20 for the actual header. As for performance i noticed my rpms were high since this so called mechanic did not reset my ecu. after i did that. i noticed some small gains but still nothing earth shattering(i also had my silencer off). actually i had removed my silencer on my exhaust and i swear that gives me the best gains out of any mod so far. with my silencer i noticed my exhaust is quieter now and my whole powerband feels smoother. my rpms don't drop as fast. it's actually kinda weird because my car doesn't feel like it's pulling harder but by looking at my speedometer it "seems" to accelerate quicker. i know this is just a butt dyno and small observations on my part so take it for what it's worth. i know i don't believe much without a dyno either. Is it worth the money I paid for it? yes. Is it worth the money brand new? undecided as of this point. i'll have to see how the ecu adjusts over a couple of weeks and i'll keep everyone informed.

im in the market for a header but i dont know wheather i should go with dc 4-1 cermic or the hp cermic. i know the hp got biggers pipes, but with smaller pipes > higher pressure > low end. so if anyone can measure either the hp top portion header, and/or the dc cermic header... i'd appriceate it. 100 pts if u like =D

how big is the megan downpipe? the stock EX one looks big enough already. jttegx get the HP header if it's cheap. so far i noticed as small gain but nothing worth paying brand new. keep in mind i haven't been able to drive to hard around here since there's snow galore.

I broke the middle engine bolt right off while installing my dc sports header and Im not really sure how to fix it. I know if I dont fix it soon theres going to be leakage. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
im putting my car back to stock to trade it in so im selling a megan racing downpipe for $80 i only used it for like 10,000 miles, its like 2.5 sie piping, the stock is big at like 1.75-2 i think, i noticed a gain with it though better throttle response and top end speed, if you have intake, header and exhaust without high flow cat you will definately notice a gain with it, doesnt make the car that much louder either.
