Magnaflow owners

How does your exhaust sound? I'm looking for a fairly quiet exhaust...one that won't drown out my intake, but still louder than stock. Also, I keep reading how this is cheaper than other exhausts, but I can't find any site that has it, how much are you guys getting this system for? Thanks

I heard the exhaust clip, and im liking it more and more
i love my flowmaster exhaust tone, but its raspy when i turn the car on. Im going to get a muffler shop to install a resonator as soon as i get my car back. Hopefully that will eliminate the raspy sound. But otherwise its deep and awesome.

magnaflow is nice, i have it, it gets louder as u start to accelerate but it isn't super loud or ricey. its quite quiet if ur trying to rev on someone and thats with a aem cai. if u want a loud one get an apexn1. if u want one that performs well get a tanabe. magnaflow is quiet and it doesn't perform the top of the line but it is good for the value and looks nice

i love it and highly recommend it.... it has a nice deep tone to it and isn't loud when driving around under "normal" conditions, but once it's WOT, it has a nice deep growl to it.

the only advice i have is, when you get it installed, just get the midpipe welded together. saves headaches with clearance issues and scraping.

I can't just install it myself? I thought most catbacks are just bolt on. If I'm going to end up spending more $ to have it put on professionally, I could just put that towards a nicer exhaust that I could do myself :-/

That does look really nice. How much would it typically cost to have this professionally put on? And once it is...you can't take it off? Thanks

It's not too tough to put on yourself, although you may want a friend to give you a hand with it. And once it's on, it's very easy to take it off. That's why it's a 'bolt-on'. But like somebody said you'd probably want to have it welded, because the U-bolts that they provide tend to hang low and scarpe - I've hit it a few times going over curbs an' stuff.

As far as sound, it's very quiet in the lower RPM's, but rev it up over 3K and it sounds really deep, with a nice growl.

There's usually a GB on it for $300 shipped. Check the forums ...

my magnaflow is jsut fine....sitck with 2.25" piping.
There was no real noticable power gain...just sound.
Get the K & N FIPK II intake...it is better than the
AEM CAI that I had.

How much does a welding job usually cost? After I get it welded, I should have no problems with scraping? I like the cheap price, but there is no point if it is just going to get destroyed because I bottom out on stuff.

Honestly, I would just get the HKS, that's what I have. True, it is just a axle-back, but exhaust won't add you that much power. I have heard both, and decided to go with the HKS because of the deep mellow pur of the exhaust note and the way the tip angles up and out to the side. Also, with just two bolts, it is as easy to put on as anything on earth. I did it with a jack and professional air drill, and it took me more time to get the car on the rack then put the exhaust on!!! Trust me, go to tornactive.com and they will suit you up. I always look there first for my parts! A little more money, but it is definatelly worth it. Mine was $215 shipped to IL. A HUGE IMPROVEMENT OVER THE QUALITY OF THE MAGNAFLOW.

Also, since bottoming out is one of your concerns, just like when I was shopping for exhausts, I have never bottomed out with the HKS.

Just my $.02

$215 isn't bad at all, but I don't really like the angled look. I can't position it straight out can I?

I put on my magnaflow and didn't like those crappy U-Bolts so i had it welded. When they did that they also raised up the piping to sit flush with the car and i have never scrapped. I put on the magnaflow at the same time as my CAI and noticed a little more kick out of my car, but not as much as when i put headers on and took out the cat. The weld shop did the welds and manipulated the pipes for about $35.

My 2 cents.

I have the magnaflow muffler with the respnator and 2.25 inch piping from the cat back. i also have the k&n fipk kit. In my opinion, this is the sound that you are looking for. when you rev, it is quite mellow, even at high rpm's, it does not "twang." It is deep and smooth. it will not overpower your cai or sri, and does not make the inside of the cab intolerable on long trips. I would not change my exhaust or intake ever!

Nope, you can't reposition the HKS to come straight out, you have to do the angled look.
I didn't like it at first either, but the more i researched, the more evidence I found that it was made in surperior quality and the angled look grew on me. Now I'm loving it.

Yeah, K&N FIPKII with Magnaflow is an awesome combination. It picks up nicely, a little more power than stock - definitely noticable - and it sounds awesome. I love the hiss of the intake when it first starts up, combined with the deep growl of the exhaust. It sounds mean ...
