Between us and SF we can do anything you like. I am just telling you that 10's is not easy. The power will be there with a built motor, but you will need upgraded axles, engine management, roll cage, and suspension upgrades. You are looking at about 10k with all the mods.
It is going to be $1000 for forged pistons and eagle rods, $750 for a ported head, $550 custom intake manifold, $300 Flywheel, and Clutch, $3100 for the turbo kit. You might as well just send me the motor and have it built buy us, and sent out with the turbo kit. Would take around a month to have it back to you. $3500 for the turbo build, and $3100 for the kit. Let me know. Thanks again

You will have the potential do make whatever power you want. Next will be on your to upgrade the necessary parts to make it more efficient as you add more power. Im here for questions, so keep em' coming.
Hello DhRacingJosh
,
Any estimates on HP or WHP increase on a cam regrind? I don't have the funds to go turbo or total rebuild my engine now, so this seems like the best bang for my dollar. Would it be fair to say a regrind would yeild a 10 - 15 HP increase with stock setup?
As well, any estimates on how long would the whole process takes?
I'm located in Canada, do you imagine there would be any difficulties encountered sending you a camshaft, or would it be better if you found one and did the regrind and then ship up here?
I'm sorry about all questions, but I've been tossing the idea of going "cam" for sometime now.
Thanks!

You can expect around 10-15 at the wheels. Hard to say being the new motors seem to be more responsive to mods. If you package it up then there will be no problems, I thoroughly package ours.

Hopefully I can have it shipped to your door in less then a month from arrival. That's a drastic amount. Normally 3 days to the grinder, and two weeks back to me, then off to you.
dhracingjosh,
I have a 2001 ex I have an auto trans. I am wondering what I can do with this. I'd like to find out more on the cam regrind and anything else that I can do to my slow auto civic. any help would be appreciated

with the reground cam, would I need to add stronger valve springs or should the stock ones be fine with the stock red line.
Also will there any price difference between a non vtec grind and a vtec grind?
One more thing... what kind of life should I expect from a reground cam?
And thanks for coming to the board and answering these questions, alot of good info so far.

That sounds good to me! I'll keep you in mind in the very near future. I don't mind the month wait because last thing I'd want to do is to rush things. Thanks for your responses.

Ok, so say I want to go all motor. If i get the P&P job, regrinded cam, and rest of the valve train upgraded what kind of price and power would I expect to see? Can you give us examples from othe models you have done. I guess it would be best to go ahead and upgrade the IM and TB too. What kind of gains did past say D16s with Vtec get with all of that plus a CAI, header, and full exhaust?
Plus do you guys do any ECU work? I know it would help with uping the redline. After all the valve train work, would it be ok to have say a 8,000 rpm redline with a stock bottom end?

Hey DHRacingJosh,
I really appreciate all the questions you've been answering. I've got a couple of questions, too.
How would the D17 react with upgraded pistons? I'm interested in buying your 10.8:1 pistons, and possibly a regrinded cam, but I want to know if modding the engine this way would be recommended for a start. It's all I can afford, and I can find someone to install the items, but I don't know if it's worth it.
Thanks,
CivicRookie

thanks, but it wouldnt be until this summer that i would something drastic to my car like this, but just curious thanks though for the fast response
do i have to send in my motor to get a camshaft and valves/valve springs/valve retainers? I'm thinking about ordering those, having them made, then driving to California to have them installed. I live in Virginia, so it'll be a pretty big trip, and I really doubt whether I can go the month or so that you say I will be without my engine.
