if you are on the track, yes.
if you are going to work/school, no.
i have bought this for three (or was it seven) dollars.
it makes a diffrence on your 90-120 speed; it plugs into your air tenp. sensor and has such high resistance that your computer thinks the air coming into the engine is like -20, so it stays in the "start" mode, like 2 degrees advance. it's good for the track, but my gas milage went down the pooper. it droped to like 28 mpg.......if you want, i'll give you the color code so you don't waste your money. (you can buy it at radio skack for like $.52)

its a Resistor! not a capistor
and yes ive heard of it working but like every product it doesn't work as well on our engines
wow ppl are very nice today...usually this would be filled with flame and stuff...but its ok i dont care....yes its a resitor and it does not do much..i have some black box thing kind of like that resistor. (its probably the same thing but its completly encased in melted plastic and im unable to see how its made. but when i take it out the car is not as quick)

capacitors store electricity, resistors restrict current.... thats why when you have a hard hitting boom system.. you put in capacitors...
the purpose of this item is to make the computer on your car think that the air is super cold, so it pumps in more fuel...

I dont know about that I think it would hurt the engine more then help it. its like drinking a glass of hot water thinking its cold its still going to be hot water...makes no sense just get a CAI then it will be getting real cold air.

ok so where does this thing go exactly ? does someone have a link to the thread where it was covered already ? is it easy to install ? how does it advance timing can you use a different resistor to advance the timing even more ? whats the name and code for it at radioshack ?

a really accurate way to find out about this exact chip from this exact seller is to look at their feedback then email some of those buyers to see what they think about it.

unplug your air temp. sensor (that "plug" that's in the filter box, (stock) or at the end of your aftermarket pipe near the throttle body)
put tape or somthing to block unfiltered air from going down that hole
unplug the temp. sensor by pressing or lifting the clips
put one end of the resistor it one "hole" of outlet
put the other side of resistor in the other "hole" of outlet
put some electric tape over the resistor to hold it in the plug outlet.
tape the plug out of the way, DO NOT atempt to put back in filter box/aftermarket pipe
keep the air temp sensor, just in case the resistor burns up (lasts for about 30,000 mi)
and no, there is no higher resistance that will advance timming more. this just keeps the engine in "start" mode, the resistance is in the millions of ohms.

its a resistor, most of our sensors work on the principle of giving out voltages... im not sure what the color code is.. but you can get like 5 for $1 at radio shack
