Interest in ported heads?

How many people would be interested in ported and polished cylinder heads? www.dh-racing.com is going to offer port work for D17's. I just want to know if there would be enough of you interested to get a GB going.

Some of DHracing's cylinder heads hold world records. The the gains have been recorded from 35 whp to 55 whp gains. DHracing has the highest quality port work i have ever seen. goto his website to see his work. Please reply if you would be interested.

well, you will have to send in your head then he will port it and send it back. He is trying to acquire some heads so you can purchase the head, pay the core charge, then when you install the new head, you send him yours and he refunds the core charge.

i dont know how much the core charge will be. I am just trying to make sure there is a good enough demand for the product before we jump into this.

Would it hurt the engine if I got a turbo polish and then later on, got a turbo? But the $$$ is an issue. Any ball park figures?

sounds good, but what it all comes down to is HP gained versus money spent. I am guessing that this group buy would be around $500 ish ???
Show me good gains on a na d17 engine and i'll show you my money.

not sure it's worth the (almost) 1000$ for *MAYBE* 25whp... not doubthing the talent... just the d17a doesn't give much to work with

Ditto for me. I would gladly build up my engine if the price to performance ratio was worth it.

I'd rather see gains before I give up my money, also. Remember the whole deal with the KMS manifold? Look how that turned out.

Dave is not KMS.

DHracing has a completely stock NA B16 that made 194whp with just portwork and intake/exhaust. The B16 is only 160 at the crank stock.

Now as for the D17, i will be dyno testing the gains i get. I will be testing it at the original 5.5 psi.

Believe me, the work dave does is awesome. The quality is excellent.

i am in..would like to know cost as soon as you can...seeing as how I just spent 2900 on SF kit, and more on clutch, flywheel, timer, and boost controller.

as for the comment about the kms manifold...i haven't seen or felt any bad side effects from mine...other than the pain in my **** it was to put in...not sure about the rest of his products tho

I need numbers and price first before I decide to do anything. And your trying to sell something without a price? No one isn't gonna go for it without a price first. Your not gonna get even close estimate number than what is really is.

It's sounds great, but do you have an approx price? $500? $1000? I'd prefer NA tuning.

That kind of gain for $500-$600? Uhm... The AEM V2 is $300 and nets a wopping what, 3 horses? This is a bunch of crap. Show me a dyno and a price and if it sounds good, I'll trade my car back in for a Civic to be able to do this.

runaway, do you know who Dave Hickman is? He was the first person to run a honda into the 9's. Porting a head is WAY different than an intake. And intake only opens up the STOCK head. if you put an intake on a ported head, you will then feel the gains. Dave holds world records with his heads. He is the only person i know who drives a non vtec single cam engine every day, and runs 12's in it.

anyway......

The GB price will be about $650, that is $100 off the full price of the port job. The length of time and number of people will be posted when the heads are available.

That seems expensive for a P & P. I might pay that if I just handed them my car, but that is too much for the head already off.
