Would anyone else agree with the previous post? I'm looking at an intake as a first mod and I wanna do it right the first time...is v2 a smart buy for the LX?
ok....i got the V2, and besides being a little upset at how expensive it was ($266 shipped), i was also a bit upset to see that its more like a short ram than a cold air. other than that though..... the pipe is two different sizes, the first part, where the filter attaches, is HUGE...i'd prolly estimate it at about the size of the tip of an evo? maybe a little smaller, but you get the idea...its BIG, second part is smaller, i'd guess its about normal intake pipe size, maybe even a little smaller.
Price: $266, FREE shipping
Sound: kinda loud (as far as intakes go) when you are almost WOT
Performance: i dunno....its an intake, so not like....unbelievable...its prolly all in my head....although, a couple days ago when it was pretty cold out, it seemed to be a little more responsive in 3 and 4th than normal, but like i said....its not like,....grab your seat hp....
Pics: i can post pics of it in my car if you want them, or email them if you want...i can host (i think), i just need somone to tell me the code for posting images
NOT A CAI FOR THE 2002 CIVIC EX!!!!!! the filter is IN the engine bay, right behind the battery.

You know I've been researching the whole "CAI" question for some time. I already have a AEM CAI w/ By-pass and I plan on replacing it with an Injen RS CAI. All I here about the Injen is good stuff. I like my AEM but think it coould be better. As far as the V2... It sits behind the battery... HEAT RISES everyone. Don't car if the tubing is larger than smaller or whatever it may be. You don't want warm/hot air into your car. Well there is my 2 cents.
I believe the Injen CAI is the only 'true' CAI becuase the filter rests behind the bumper. The pipes will heat up no matter what, but the air from the Injen CAI will still be colder than the other non-true CAI's.
I got the Injen CAI becuase it was the only true CAI and I'm happy. When I purchased it I already knew it wasnt going to do much. There is more responsiveness in the higher RPMs, but nothing worth bragging about. Also, the sound is MEAN in the high RPMs. I need to get someone to drive my car by me in high RPMs becuase I have no clue what it sounds like on the outside, but in the cabin that thing roars.

I have the V2 on my LX and yeah it is a SRI and not a “true CAI” but I was wondering two things 1. Does any one actually have real numbers that show the difference in temperature of air down near the front bumper and up near the battery? And 2. Does that difference in temp if there is one really make a difference in performance?

If you're gonna buy an intake, buy the AEM V2! I drive an lx 4 dr. I was never a believer of short ram intakes until i bought this one. I had the original AEM "cold air", which i was dissapointed with. It did nothing for my car except make some sound. So i bought the INJEN RD intake, which was pretty good, not as loud as the AEM but produced some noticeable gains. But i saw the dyno results on the AEM V2. So i bought it, and i absolutely love it. You can really feel it pulling hard at high rpms and low!!! And at high rpms, it is loud as hell!!! It sounds louder than a vtec!! Last year with the INJEN, all i could do was a 16.5 down the track, on my first time down the track, i have run a 16.2 in my sedan. The HP header, hi flo cat and exhaust are the same from last year, just the V2 is new. Everyone has their opinions, but i am probably the only person that has tried these 3 "Big Name" intakes. Buy the V2, worth every penny!! Check out my ride for pics.

hey in ur member ride pics. it looks a bit different than the one I posted.
so I guess there is a difference for the EX and LX/DX models. cuz the bigger tubing didn't start for the pic I posted before the V2 logo.. but in urs, I dont see a different size.. till I think after the V2 logo....
btw mind if I use the pic for future references?

Hey, I've got a 2004 Civic EX 2-door with an Automatic. I've been looking at intakes, and according to AEM's site, and an E-bay auction, it seems as is the V2 intake will fit both the automatic and manual? Could someone give me a quick rundown of which intakes fit on the 2004 Civic EX coupe with the auto tranny? Also, how do they sound? What's louder/more obnoxious? Thanks in advance

I should be getting my v2 CAI in 4 days, along with the ubiquitous neuspeed strut bar.
From what I hear, the FIPK II is better for everyone, but on the LX, the V2 is producing decent power.
I have a 2003 LX sedan 5 speed, so as soon as the CAI gets in I'll post pics, seeing how everyone is confused about if the EX and LX versions are different.
From what I hear, LX version / mod gives decent power, but the EX version is a drag and you'd be even better served with the K&N FIPK

Whoa, i just checked out the "dyno" that AEM has on their website for the V2. It claims a 12 hp gain, and 10 gain for torque. This seems fishy... is it correct?

Look at where the 12 hp gain comes at - isn't it up around 6000-6500? How often are you going to be up that high for long periods? I'd be more concerned with the numbers in the middle of the powerband...I know when I drive to work I put the cruise on anywhere from 72-76mph and the needle sits right on 3000rpm.
I have had for a year and love it.
NO problems as long as its installed right and you dont mess with it you should be good.
I have 2 friends who own Injens and I still pull on them so I am sold with the V-2...

I just installed my V2... got it cheap oin ebay and it arrived with the throttle body end bent a bit.. after a little pounding into round it installed in like an hour.
On the road/... hiway power gains are noticeable, I notice an extra little kick, about what I expected. Satisfied there...
However, it makes this annoying ricey noise. I am tempted to get the FIPK...

AEM is known for sounding like rice. K&N is similar, but the tone is much deeper and nice. Sounds like stock unless you're really getting on the pedal.

ALL intakes will sound "ricey". Generic intakes are worst! The V2 sounds stock under normal driving conditions (unless your normal driving routine is 1/2 throttle and more all the time). Also, intakes and most exhausts will always yield gains on the high end. Even if the K&N doesnt rob low end, the difference on the Civic is very little, maybe like 1-3 WHP at specific RPMs.... If you want to keep the low end, stay stock! I feel if a driver hardly ever gets into the high RPM area, intake is a waste.

My normal driving routine is california driving... sometimes you have to have your foot crammed down most of the time in order to do the flow of traffic...

The V2 rules! But i got decent gains cuz i have HP header, hi flo cat, custom exhaust with Tanabe muffler. Not sure on a completely stock motor though. I had the Aem cold air before and it sucked ***, just made noise. Then i got the INJEN race division and it was pretty good, but this V2 is just so nice. The sound is just incredible at high rpms. Sorry, the pic was taken in the winter time, the engine bay was a mess...
