D16 or B18

Alright, so the civic I got had a blown motor which wasn't a big deal at all to me, so I tossed that away. And my friend gave me a b18c gsr motor for free it has around 80,000-100,000kms, with an auto trans but I got a manual one, anyways...I also picked up a d16 v-tech with around the same kilometers from a wreckers according to the manager the car was rear-ended. I'm not sure which one to go with, help me out?

the b18c and it was pretty nice of your friend to give that to you, considering they sell for $2000-2500

I know I'm thankful. And thanks for the help. Should I try rebuilding and boring out/port polishing the d16? or just sell it?

Re: D16 or B18

I have loads of time on my hands a couple of years considering I don't even have my license yet. I'm 15 Lol. I was thinking of keeping the civic without the motor for about a year or two and build up the b18c and use the money from d16 and build up the b18c, so when its all said and done I should have my full license and one badass car. I'm also planning on making it a sleeper. I'll upload pictures soon enough.

Re: D16 or B18

working on the b18 outside the car and keeping the car with an empty engine bay sounds like a great idea. But if there is one piece of advice I can give you is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't try to hot rod this thing. Between 17-25 we all think we are better drivers than what we actually are. Too many people that age get hurt or killed when they get a car with real power. My son is 19 now and has rolled a truck and wiped out two other cars in the past four years and none of them had any where near the juice that your civic will have when you are done.

I would love to see pictures of this as you work on it. This is very likely the same path I'll take when I start doing my engine swap and I hadn't considered installing all the cool parts before installing the engine.
