which engine?
Numerous swaps you can do.
b18c1 (GSR)
b18b (VTEC integra)
b18c5 (Type-R)
b16a (Civic Si)
h22 (Second gen prelude)
h23 (First gen prelude)
k20 (RSX type-s)
I'd suggest doing a b16a or b18b because they're relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to build up. Both take boost pretty well. If you have a LOT (and I mean ALOT) of money you should go with k20 or b18c5. Alot of people have built up h22 civics as well. Whatever you choose to do, I suggest you research it and see if you want to do turbo/supercharger or naturally aspirated.

b18b is the LSvtec (when modified) integra engine and h22 is the vtec prelude engine while the h23 is the non-vtec prelude engine (which came out before h22) that's what I meant by first and second generation. The rsx type s engine is a k20a2 which is MUCh easier to find then the k20z3 (06 + Si engine). Not to mention that the b16s are engines found in older Si's before they made the switch to k-series.
i agree that the first and second gen prelude thing was wrong... because most ppl forget about the late 80's prelude but that was the only INCORRECT info.. just because he didn't list every car that a k20 came in, doesn't make the information false..
Alright I made a mistake on b18b. And before, I wasn't trying to argue with you I was just trying to defend myself cause it seemed like you were trying to make me look stupid. And on the prelude information I said first and second gen stupidly but I was right about the h23 coming before the h22 and being the Si and not the VTEC engine. I still was the first one to respond to this thread and I think I gave him good information, maybe a tiny bit messed up but that's it. Oh yeah and the k20z3 and k20a2 are the Si and Type-s motors respectively. I think they share the same block but have different heads. If you want to opt for a k-series get a k20a2 since it'll be much cheaper and easier to find then the z3.
Yeah k20a2 is the type s motore while the k20a3 is the previous generation si/base rsx motor.
I actually heard that the new r18 civics (manual) are faster than the base rsx's. Might have something to do with gearing i'm not sure.

yup, the 02 to 05 Civic Si came with a k20A3, as well as the base model RSX. And, your 99-00 Civic Si came with the B16A2 motor. I think the del Sol came with a B16A3 right? I'm not sure which years that was. And you are correct, the bottom block of the LS motor is the one most commonly used in Frankenstine conversion motors, aka LS/Vtec...but, you can also use the B20 bottom block from a CRV in conjunction with a Vtec head. I think the new version of this conversion would be the k24 bottom block from a TSX mated to a k20 head from a Civic Si, or RSX-S. That'd be an awesome motor to have in my 97 LX sedan. People shouldn't be getting pissed over stuff like this, everyone is learning as they go. Alohaz.=)
