Hello,My son bought his girlfriend her first car. A 95 civic 2 door coupe with a 1.6L engine and automatic transmission, engine low mileage replacement, transmission mileage unknown. I have done a bunch of engine work to it and have it running fantastic, but I am NOT much of a transmission guy. It starts off fine, shifts to 2nd gear between 15 and 20mph. However, it is sticking in 2nd gear until you let off the gas. It shifts from 3rd to 4th fine. What I have done: I have drained the transmission fluid, and refilled to proper level because the guy they bought it from had about a quart or more too much in it. It has proper fluid and level. I went through and adjusted the kickdown cable as I thought it was too tight. It now has no excess slack, the block on the transmission has not lifted, so I know slack is gone, and it is not too tight. The block moves up if pushing on it so I know it is not stuck. Taking it for test drives, it is still sticking in 2nd gear until you let up on the gas pedal. My next course of action is to check the filter screens under the shift valves. I am at a loss as to what else it can be. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thank you for reading.
