What would be the best way to diagnose the problem and fix it? I know I have an issue with my alternator here for sure as I'm getting a part currently, but would this also be caused by the ignition system? I'm a bit new to working on cars

the problem is I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, its cranking and I'm thinking it might be the alt but I don't know for sure I'm no car expert but I thought It could have been my alt. What my question was is what else could be the issue to make my car crank

also, you saying it is cranking then saying you want it to crank - which is it?

Not the alternator, you're missing spark or fuel.
