Gringing noise only when in gear around 2800 rpms and higher
I just bought my first civic a 1995 lx for 1200 at this dealership since I don’t trust private party’s around where I live. And when I took it for a test drive I never heard this noise then when I took it home a week later this grinding noise starts at the higher 2k rpms and gets louder the faster I go or the higher the rpms go but you don’t hear the noise when coasting or parked. No check engine light is on I do plan to do a lot to this car since my other 2 cars are working fine(ish). What is this noise? Why does it happen? Does it make my motor a total loss? I was thinking maybe something to do with my clutch? Idk I’m new to forums I’ve worked on a few cars but this car is something I wanna learn on and be able to fix myself. Later on down the road I was thinking of engine swapping or doing major mods to this engine if it’s saveable lol thanks for any help or suggestions I’m not a Honda guy at all but it’s hella fun driving one all the manuals I’ve driven have had bad transmissions and stopped me from really enjoying one.

Could be low on manual Transmission fluid. I’d replace it since you don’t know if it ever was.
You can also see if it makes the noise while the front of the car is on jack stands and not loaded down.
