D16y8 ob2 to d16z6 ob1

This is my first motor swap on a honda so i am new to this and please bare with me and thanks for any help.So recently my friend blew a hole through his d16y8 block 97 civic and since it was his daily driver he bought the first civic motor he could get within that day. He got a d16z6. Motor is all installed now with the d16y8 harness and the ob2 computer. I read on forums about the distributor , alternator and fuel injectors plugs being different (ob2) plugs being different from the ob1 plugs. So i put his alternator, intake manifold, and distributor and fuel injectors from the y8 ob2 onto the z6 ob1,because we are still using his orignal ob2 harness that came with the car. We go to finally crank the car and the tining belt was ripped. I change the timing belt and we go to start it and it turns on but seems as if its only running on 2 pistons. All spark plug wires have spark. This is where i ask for help . could i be retarded on the timing by a few teeth ? Could the motor have low compression ? Bad valves? Or could it be something along the line of it having a ob2 computer hooked into a ob1 motor? There are a few plugs that do not plug into the back of the motor , because the ob1 d16z6 does not have those sensors. Any help is appreciated
