‘90 Civic doesn’t like water
My sister has a ‘90 Civic and if she’s driving it and it starts to rain within a couple of minutes it goes dead and won’t restart. If it’s parked and has started raining without being driven it won’t crank. Her mechanic says he’s “checked everything”. Anybody experienced this problem or have any idea what could be causing it? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Something electrical is getting wet like the distributor. Check all electrical components and weather sealing around the hood. There could be a water trail that you can follow.

I had a similar problem (not exactly the same) with my '81 Civic.
Engine would stall during rain. However, it WOULD crank but not restart.
Problem proved to be faulty HT ignition cables and a voltage leak when moist.
I replaced them all and the problem was solved.
