Choke Cable has 2 wires
I have a 1977 Civic CVCC Hondamatic, 3BBL carb with manual choke. Previous owner modified the choke cable and now is not long enough to attach to new carb. I was going to replace with a universal cable, but I found that on the original there is a couple electrical wires connected to a little box on the **** end. Those wires run up under the dash. Can anyone tell me what this is, and if it is something that needs to be replaced with an OEM part?

Re: Choke Cable has 2 wires
It's been decades since I have seen one of those! LOL
The first item I see on Hondas website is about a recall on the choke cable mechanism (the heater part of the cable).
In fact, that's about the only thing there, service-wise.
In the description is this:
The manually operated choke is equipped with an override mechanism which will return the choke to the fully OFF position if the driver should forget to do so before the engine reaches normal operating temperature. The override mechanism consists of an electromagnetic coil, a resistor, a choke cable holding plate and a plastic housing.
Pretty sure that's what you are looking at.
I guess if you are used to a hand/manual choke and will remember to push it in at the right time every time you use it, then you don't really need the factory part....if it's even available.
