Sounds like you need an alignment, or something is worn/broken.

Could it be in the steering column or something in the axel?

Did you hit anything like a pothole, curb, small rodent? Did you get new wheels, tires any suspension parts? Was this a gradual problem or did you wake up one morning and the steering wheel was off?

If the wheel is just slightly off it may just need an alignment but something could also have worn and thrown the alignment off. You can do an inspection of your suspension components yourself if you have a jack and can remove the wheel.

Has it always been that way since you had the car or did it "happen?"

If it was once OK and now it is not, there is a reason for that. Does the car track and drive right? If you let go of the wheel, does it pull to one side?

How long have you been driving it this way? If it has been a while, check to see if you are getting uneven wear on one or both of the front tires.

The steering wheel goes onto a splined shaft. If it has always been that way since you owned the car, it is possible that the steering wheel was removed and was off a spline or two when reinstalled.

If the steering wheel has never been removed, then you have a problem with something in the steering system which might be simple and inexpensive - or not.

If you know it isn't that the wheel was installed a spline or two off, take it to an allignment or front end shop in your area that has a good reputation and have them check it out.

It might be a simple front-end allignment is all you need, but if you do have a bent or damaged component, you really want to find out what it is before something really bad happens.
