+1 on the suggestion by Max91. Or just head 3.5 hours south of DFW to Austin - everyone else seems to be moving here.

The choice is either a 180 or 240 grit. I am leaning toward the 180. Thoughts?
I might not touch it at all, just stuff new rings in and go. Dead serious.

Totally depends on what the cylinder looks like, and what it measures.

I also do not do this sort of work in the dealer shop environment....at this particular Honda dealer.

I really hope you have someone that knows what they are doing on your speed dial.

See what the ring manufacturer states as far as specs go, then consult with a real machinist about how to obtain those specs.

I am happy to report this car has been fixed. I have uploaded more photos with captions detailing part of the experience in replacing the rings. I will follow-up with more of a write-up when I have time. Thanks again, Ezone for the nudge to get me started.

Nice.

Good pics in the link.
Pistons nice and shiny. Oooh, aaaah!

I assume it is burning fuel now, and not burning oil?

Assuming the valve job was done properly and new valve stem seals were used...and the PCV is good...

Pull the plugs out and read them. (google: plug chart). Oil fouled or ash buildup?

If it smokes the most at high and steady RPM, then it's probably rings...
How many miles on it?
Did it have a serious overheat?
