Grinding noise when turning
Grinding noise when turning
ok i keep hearing this sorta grinding noise coming from the front driver's side wheel only when i start to turn right. the cv axel looks alright so i'm thinking it may be the wheel bearing does that sound right? If it is anybody have any suggestions on where to buy a wheel bearing ?
Its a 1994 civic ex the power steering has been taken off idk if that might have something to do with it

Re: Grinding noise when turning
Err, yea... if you're *positive* the axles are good, then probably wheel bearings. Jack it up and hold the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and shake it. If there's play, or if you spin the wheel by hand and there's noise, it's your wheel bearing. Check your ball joints and bushings too while you're down there inspecting stuff.
Keep in mind, though, that just because the dust boot on the axle(s) is/are still intact, it doesn't mean they're not acting up. If you've pulled them for any reason lately (transmission work, etc.), I'd be suspicious. Those axles don't take well being pulled the wrong way.
