93 new Engine
Hi so a couple years ago I got my car, and not the guy who I bought it from but they guy who he bought it from rebuilt the motor and changed it from a automatic to a manual. The guy put D15B engine in it and I've replaced parts for that motor and a few new parts that haven't gotten put in yet. Anyways a few month ago it died so now I need to get a new motor. And I was wondering if you guys think I should get the same D15B motor, or if I should get a upgrade one. If I was to get a different motor it would have to be one that has the same parts so I can use the stuff I have already bought.
Is It even worth getting a new upgraded motor and running the risk of parts not fitting, or would it be better to just get the same D15B motor?

Re: 93 new Engine
well if you plan to keep the car for a while, a better motor would certainly be more fun
on a 93 civic, i would stick to higher power motors depending on which one fits budget and how easy it is to find. all of these will fit in your car:
B18A1 1.8L DOHC 140hp TPI
B16A1 1.6L DOHC 130-160hp MPI depending on which car it came from
B18C 1.8L DOHC VTEC 190hp MPI (japan only)
B17A1 1.7L DOHC VTEC 160hp MPI
B18C1 1.8L DOHC VTEC 170hp MPI (my favorite)
make sure and have it done at a shop that specializes in engine swaps. these are relatively bolt in engines, but they know the little tricks of what works best. a regular mechanic might not have all the know how.

Re: 93 new Engine
well the engine will fit in the car, yes. usually when you buy an engine, it comes with everything you need for the swap like all the bolton stuff (intake, header, ps pump, alt, water pump, etc) and usually the trans too. you will not be moving all your old parts to the new engine, it doesnt work like that and rarely is a swap sold with just the engine and nothing bolted to it. for example if you bought a replacement engine (used ofcourse from a salvage company, preferably with low miles and tested in good condition), it would be something like this...you would use very few of your old parts.

Re: 93 new Engine
there are lots of guides and info online too that can help. you also need a matching ecu for the engine you pick.
