Emissions HC and NO FAIL! 2000 Honda Civic Si
Emissions HC and NO FAIL! 2000 Honda Civic Si
I need help figuring out what's causing my 2000 Si coupe to fail the emissions. I've attached a picture of the report.
I just had the entire exhaust system redone within the past 6 months: new cat, new muffler, new center pipe.
I had an engine swap done as well just recently. The original D16Y swapped out for a leaner running JDM engine model D15B(1995 gen). The engine itself is low km, super clean, and I had a flush done and oil changed just 400kms ago. Timing, spark plugs, and vacuum hoses were checked as well and all seems fine.
I checked the air filter, which turned out to be fairly dirty, and I'll be replacing before the retest, but otherwise, I'm at a loss.
PLEASE HELP!!

Re: Emissions HC and NO FAIL! 2000 Honda Civic Si
I recommend you try this:
-Seafoam
(Make sure you understand to get an oil change afterwards if you put it in the crankcase)
Also, don't be stupid like me and put the brake booster hose cyl. on backwards... It caused me to have a minor backing-up into a parked car accident due to brake failure although damages were only about $200(broken blinker, slightly unoticable dent in bumper), this rich guy still is contacting insurance and trying to file an SR-1!!?? Even though he replaced the parts already with no financial effort... People just aren't considerate anymore.
If you don't want the hassle of using seafoam, try this:
http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05063-Guar...4342599&sr=8-1
Its some kind of emissions solution, plus you get a guarantee or double the money back? So why not? I heard stories of people using this, and passing with flying colors. Also, some stories of them not passing and making emissions temporarily worse. But it seems to work great with Honda's. I'm going to be using this when I get my smog check next month. Good Luck!
