2000 Civic Si Bogging at high RPMs in rain?
2000 Civic Si Bogging at high RPMs in rain?
Title basically says it all. Im not sure why its doing this but it seems that everytime its raining and i get up to around 4500 rpms, i get a nasty bogging sound and it feels like its lost power. Can anyone give me some tips as to what this might be? I have recently replaced the 02 Bank 1 sensor.

I had the same problem in mine and then it started through a cel code. Which turned out to be a sensor in the distributor. It was not advancing correctly and causing the bogging and spluttering at high rpm's. I got a used ditributor and it went away.

How much did you pay for it used? And why would this only be happening when its raining?
Also, my check engine light is on, but all that comes up on the computer is the iacv

Never found out why it only did it when it was raining. Once I swapped it out it went away.
I thought maybe there was a seal issue and some how water got in there but its a bit of a jump to get up there and I wasn't submerging the car lol.
Cost of a used one was $75 off ebay.
This may not be your problem but it does sound exactly like what mine was doing.
You could also check your engine grounds. Make sure they are all good. This can cause some issues with high rpm's but it would affect in the dry as well.

Okay, should i replace the distributor rotor, or the whole distributor?
Since it is not showing up as anything on the CEL, then what else could it be?
