Stall after warm
Stall after warm
Hello All,
I just put in a new cylinder head and got the car started w/o any problems. When it it cold it idles fine but once I drive it around or let it idle until it warms up it will die. It seems to happen when it reaches a certain temperture but can't figure it out. I have a new thermostat and I have even disconnected the sensor to see if that was the cause but no luck. I did not touch the idle, the throttle etc so I am at a loss as to what it casuing this to happen. I have no lights come on and it drives great. Any help or direction is appreciated.

You may not be getting enough fuel. The newer cars ECU idles higher when starting until reaching operating temperature then it idles normal. Your motor may be needing that extra fuel and when it warms up and idles down it's not getting enough fuel to run. Just a thought.
Hi Rudy,
I'm not real familiar with your generation civic, however I am real familiar with the 96-00.
Your idle is controlled by your IACV. On some models of the 96-00 civics it's easy to mix up the 3 prong connectors on the IACV and TPS. Make sure you don't have these switched!
Other things:
Make sure your IACV is nice and clean (not clogged).
Set your idle and timing.
Good Luck.

my thoughts are its ignition related. I often get a studder after my spark plugs have gone a few thousand miles.... Emanage has something to do with it in my case, but it only happens when the car is "warm" as in... run it park it for a few hrs and start it back up. Damn thing wont stay on, but it only happens when the plugs get old. I'd say start with the plugs... it might be something as dumb as that. If not, look into the wire and the coil, etc... and check the timing.
