98 Civic Ex Engine Swap

Hey guys I was just wondering what types of motors will fit in a 98 civic ex. I heard B16 and K20 are good motors. And could someone post a DIY?

I basically want more speed and I might in the future make this my project. So any tips and advice would be nice.

see the sticky threads above.

a DIY would have too many pages due to involved items.

but trhere is one for the 7th gen, you could look there, there will be differences, though.

Any ENGINE will fit with enough $ and a big enough hammer!

Re: 98 Civic Ex Engine Swap

OP if you are serious about swapping which I really don't think you are, that's why we've all been giving you the run around. Because we get this question and the turbo build question twice a week.

You need to (as Sdaidoji said) read through the multiple threads listed in the sticky section, your question has been covered in depth 1 bazillion times.

keep in mind that both the k20 and b18 are engine blocks.
what is important with an n/a build is the head attached to those blocks
the k20 ranges in power from 160-200hp depending on head type.

You will need to be able to disconnect all sensors from the engine, the ecu needs to be swapped out, the wiring harness, exhaust and the engine mounts.

you will need an engine hoist to pull the old engine and place the new one.

you will also need the transmission for whichever engine you are going with.

This will cost you more than the vehicle is worth, so you may want to save your money and buy a faster car, I'd only swap if you love the car and have a tone of knowledge, otherwise buy a stock fast car).
