turbo d16y8
turbo d16y8
I'm looking to turbo my d16y8 and would like to push a little higher than 10 psi. I have never slapped on a turbo but am a grease monkey and am up for the job. I understand i'll need new rods and pistons as well as head gaskets, what else would be good to invest in to insure the engine can handle that kind of boost?
I appreciate any input.

keep in mind on trubo applications you will have to replace almost everything under the hood, rods pistons etc or else you will have a rod blow out something like that, dont forget that you need your intercooler system, all the hoses and piping, think about an ecu to tune once you put your turbo in injectors fuel rail and on the d16y8 you most deffinitaly need to upgrade the oil system aswell. i bought my car built and they cheaped out on the connecting rods and i had one go through the block, now i have to build up another motor so keep all that in mind and make sure you have it all done properly.
Re: turbo d16y8
OIL COOLER SYSTEM, OIL PUMP RACE BEARINGS ETC SOME MACHINE SHOPS WILL ALSO WIDEN THE OIL CHANNELS AND SUCH TO ALLOW MORE OIL TO FLOW WHERE IT IS NEEDED. JUST ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND ENSURE EVERYTHING IS DONE RIGHT RACE RODS RACE BEARINGS GET THAT OIL FLOWING AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FORGED PISTONS, WHEN I BOUGHT MY CIVIC I WAS TOLD IT HAD ALL ISS FORGED INTERNALS SURE ENOUGH MY CONNECTING RODS WERENT AND I HAD THE ONE BLOW THROUGH MY BLOCK NOW IM RIGHT BACK AT POINT A BUILDING MY MOTOR UP BUT IM DOING IT RIGHT THIS TIME EAGLE RODS CP PISTONS APR HEAD STUDS AND CONNECTING ROD BOLTS THEN MY TOP END OFF MY OLD D16 HEY I HAVE AN IDEA LETS KEEP THESE DISCUSSIONS UP AND COMPARE BUILDS??
