Certain aspects of the Crower 403s has been covered to death however I have a specific question that I have been searching here other forums and google for over the last week. Ill keep it brief.
I have an ls block in my hatch and Crower 403s, I am trying to lash the valves but my clearances say .006 IN .008 EX HOT. I've never adjusted valves hot before and i know this should never be done and I called Crower they said adjust it 5 thousandths less than the HOT clearances with the engine cold.
What Crower tech guy told me:
.006-.005=.001 IN and .003 EX
What my gut tells me:
There's no ****ing way that is a safe valve clearance.
Any help guys?

Re: Crower 403 valve clearances question
or am i missing something? Should I adjust them +.005 IN EX? That would mean its .011 IN and .013 on EX??! That just seems really loose to me....

Re: Crower 403 valve clearances question
let's see if i can be of help here too.
When in installed my stage 1 crower for the 7th gen, i simply took the mid-way between the stock vs the crower recommended clearances. have been luck so far, no lash, no issues. better power and mileage. I might try something different next time i adjust them, but when i did it, i was doing the timing belt, head gasket, so i had to do it cold...
note: i do not know where the crower vs stock specs are, so bear with me on this :P

Re: Crower 403 valve clearances question
any suggestions are welcome especially if they are educated and helpful suggestions like yours. thanks bro.
The crower specs are basically the stock specs but hot which is what is confusing the **** out of me.
So you basically took the halfway mark between stock and crower... did you adjust on the higher side of the specs or the lower side?

Re: Crower 403 valve clearances question
honestly, i took the center of stock to be safe and took the mid-way to the hot for the crower (they are different for the stage 1 crower for the 7th gen) - can't remember how much it was... and don't remember where i put the card... it's somewhere around the house for sure, but i have 2 cars to fix so haven't had the chance to... cleanup around... shame on me :P
educated? me? depends on the situation :P yer OK, so gets an educated guess
