Header Wrap
Header Wrap
I was wondering if anyone has used header wrap and if so what results did they get? I have a b16 turbo CRX and my oil temp gets up to 270 if I drive long distance at a high rate of speed. Thinking that the turbo manifold putting out all of that heat doesn't help.
Re: Header Wrap
that's pretty hot bro, mine barely reaches 190 after a bit of "spirited" driving...i would look elsewhere to reduce your temps. coolant, water pump, thermostat. also are you running an oil- or water-cooled turbo, because that will def affect your temps. if oil-cooled, i would look into an external oil cooler and a good place to mount it. also, at temps like that, you may be endanger of warping the head, be careful
Re: Header Wrap
My coolant temp is fine. It stays around 190. I can run the hell out of my car as long as it is stop and go. My turbo is oil cooled only. I cannot find a place to stuff an oil cooler on my car. Intercooler takes up the whole front bumper.

Tony, your oil temps only reach 190? You sure? That's what my coolant temps are at, but oil stays between 210-220 on street driving and about 230 on the highway.
Stick the cooler on the front of the oil pan on the the bottom of the tranny and make a duct and point it at. Or stick it in the corner of your bumper with a duct, or in between the raddy and FMIC. All kinds of places to put it if you're creative.

Re: Header Wrap
Sorry bad at explaining stuff. My coolant is around 190 heavy driving. It is my poil temp that soars to 270. This is only driving at 60-70 for about 30-45 minutes, cause the turbo is spooling constantly. I have to crawl under and look at where you are saying. I actually already bought an oil cooler but gave up when I could not figure out a location. Maybe should of looked before I bought it. It is 19 row so kinda big. Between the intercooler traction bar and piping it is going to be a bitch. I know now that there is no way it is going between intercooler and radiator or behind the bumper. Thanks for the suggestion.
