Lock Problem

Today I had to replace my window regulator. Before that, my locks worked fine. Now after everything is put back together, when I go to lock it from the inside when I get out (since I have no keyless entry) , nothing happens, however it WILL UNLOCK with the door open.

When the door is closed it locks and unlocks fine. Whats going on here?

Re: Lock Problem

It has been that way ever since the car was new. It's in the owners manual.

You MUST pull one of the handles (inside or outside) in order to lock or unlock the drivers door while it is open.

Unless you mean it has a power lock wiring problem. Elaborate on this?
Is the power lock button plugged all the way in?

Re: Lock Problem

Sorry I should have stated that I do in fact always pull the inside handle to lock it. Yes it is plugged in all the way, and was working fine before. Now it just wont lock with the door open. I just dont get it

Re: Lock Problem

Take the keys out of the ignition switch.
That will keep the power locks from locking, yet still unlock just fine.
Same if the "key in" contacts of the ignition switch were stuck. (MICU disables the LOCK function while the drivers door is open.)
Check if the "hey you left your keys in here" warning beeper keeps going off with the door open or headlights on and door open. Might be a clue.

Power locks work from the other door? (if equipped, I forget).

6th gens have been breaking the wires in the door jamb harnesses here too.
If you take a voltmeter and measure (meter neg lead to a ground) on the green/orange and green/white wires at the power lock switch, they should both measure the same voltage (I think either 5v or 12v)....Do they both show the same voltage?
