98 civic ex cable reel help

i put in the cable reel for my civic and now the srs light is still on and the cruise control still doesnt work but the horn now works. the reel was from a 96 and i have a 98 if that would make a difference and im pretty sure i did it right. what else could be wrong?

I see 4 different choices for each year. Maybe you need to look in a parts catalog to see exactly which version of the car you can get a used one from. Match up part numbers and all that.

Re: 98 civic ex cable reel help

the cable reel works and should be right for my car sense it was from a 96 ex but my issue is the srs light did not come off. all data said the light should come on for 6 seconds and then shut off. it hasnt shut off yet. do i have to get it reset at the dealer? im pretty sure the airbag is good in it. cruise doesnt work either but thats probably for something else

Re: 98 civic ex cable reel help

You may have to clear the SRS codes.

Search, there is a DIY for it somewhere around here and all over the net.
Oh hell, here: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...srs-light.html

It uses what's called the MES connector in the dash fusebox, and a jumper wire and cycling the key....sort of a complicated dance.
