Electric Lock Problems

I have a 98 Civic LX. The electric lock on the driver's door works fine with the key fob. The key fob will not unlock or lock the other doors. The button on the driver's door will lock and unlock the other doors as long as the driver's door is open and I am out of the car. I had an issue with a wire disconnected behind the left front fender. None of the other three doors worked. Fixed that. Not sure if the control module is going out and needs to be replaced. Help.

Re: Electric Lock Problems

I assume the wire your talking about is in the wire sheath in the door hinge area. AND I'm assuming you looked all the wire/connectors involved. In that case, yes, it's probably the module in the driver's door.

Re: Electric Lock Problems

Thanks for the reply. The original problem last year was the loose wire that had come out of the connector module. With that problem, the electric locks on the other 3 doors would not work. With this problem, I am getting power to the other doors but not with the key fob.

Re: Electric Lock Problems

Check the keyless-entry receiver module for bad wires/connectors. Module may be bad.

edit- It's #14: http://www.hondapartscheap.com/south...t=0&quantity=0 According to the diagram, it looks like it's inside the driver's door. I not sure though, could be behind the dash.

Don't be intimidated by the price. You can get one at the junkyard for like $10-20.

Re: Electric Lock Problems

I have tried 2 used modules. The problem still exists. Is it possible both had the same issue or do you think it is a wiring problem? What I also find odd is all the electric locks will work when the door is open and I am out of the driver's seat but in the seat and or the driver's door is closed, only the driver's door lock will go up and down.
