I am installing a Sony radio in my 2000 civic. I purchased a wiring harness and connected it to matching wires. I have an orange wire and an orange//white wire left from the wiring harness with no match from the radio.

If these orange and orange/white are not connected the radio will not work. If I connect the orange wire to yellow wires, the radio only works when the engine is running and headlights are on.

Need help fast!

use the wire from ur cig lighter wire
as it uses the same fuse
it only tuns on when u turn on the key

your radio should've came with a wiring diagram in the owners manual...make sure you wired everything correctly. not sure what sony uses for orange

i deal with sonys in every car i have and ive never heard of that problem ive never hooked the orange wire up red to red yellow to yellow and ground to ground and plug the harness in and everything works i have a 00 with a xplode deck and it works perfectly fine

The orange wires are for illimunation and are not needed cap them off and tape them to the rest of the wires. Do not connect them to the cig lighter plugs as suggested by asianboy he does not know what he is talking about. The illumination wires are usually hooked to the factory dimmer wire and sony does not have a wire for this. It will work just fine without it.
