Exclamation O2 Sensor

So I bought a 99 Civic EX, the guy I bought it from was a D-Bag and didnt tell me he put the car together half ***. Now I have to Re-Wire my front O2 sensor, the one ahead of the cat. I need the color code or a wiring diagram for the O2 sensor running into the enging harness. I keep throwing the O2 sensor code, even after replacing both sensor. Does anyone have it or know how to Re-wire it? I have the 2 black wires correct, not sure about the white wire and the green wire. Also does the white wire have to be insulated? Please help.

Re: O2 Sensor

I had the same problem replacing with universal sensors. Here's the chart they provided: http://stores.ebay.com/GLOBAL-AUTOMO...G-DIAGRAM.html Don't assume the two black wires are the heater. Ohm them out. Should be ~ 10-40 ohms. It's much better to buy replacements with the connector and no splicing. If they're OEM then make sure you have +12v on one of the heater wires at the wiring connector to ground. Otherwise, follow the troubleshooting guide in the service manual http://files.clubcivicquebec.com/Man...ice_Manual.pdf (takes a while to load, 2000+ pages, section 11).

Re: O2 Sensor

Why are you so sure it's a wiring issue to the O2 sensor? Have you had anyone hookup to the computer and watch what is actually happening with the engine sensors? What O2 code are you getting?

Unless you have a code that points to the O2 sensor's heater circuit being an issue, never assume any other O2 sensor code pertains to a bad O2. A lot of O2 sensor codes are set because of a problem causing the O2 to go out of it's expected parameters such as: vacuum leak(s), too rich fuel mixture, too lean fuel mixture, etc...

And yes, you should always insulate any wiring you do when it pertains to sensors and anything the ECM is monitoring and controlling.
