I just recently bought a 93' Civic SI. I am having problems with the rear lights, as they wont come on.. nor will my gage lights.. I use to be able to adjust my stearing wheel and they would work sometimes if it was in the right postion but now its just not working at all.. Any ideas? Thanks.

sounds like a wire got pinched and finally broke. gonna have to pull the wheel and ignition plastics off and find the broken wire.

Is that something that is hard to do? Also, after I find it, then what? ( Im new to all this )

If you find the broken wire (or wires) it's not hard to fix. You could solder them together and use heat-shrink tubing to protect it (or even electrical tape for the poorer-soul). Or you could buy some splices for that gauge wire and crimp them together with your wire stripper. As far as removing the plastics, that could be the hardest in my opinion. I always end up breaking the stupid plastic snaps (but most in this area are screws and metal snaps). Just take your time and be patient feeling around the edges (carefully so that you don't cut yourself) for the areas you can pull out on or where you can unscrew something.

took the plastic off, but nothing.. all the wires are fine. Any other ideas?

Get a voltmeter and see if your getting power to the tail lights, my guess would be that your not have you checked your fuses?

From what is missing (dash and taillights) it sounds like the "taillight relay" circuit may have an open.(and yes, you should locate and check the associated fuse)
In most cases the relays coil is supplied power and other side of the coil is grounded through the headlight switch closing the relay.

The taillight relay is located in the under dash fuse box and the wire providing the ground circuit would most likely be in the columns loom (it may have flexed as you moved the tilt wheel)

If you can locate the taillight relay in the box you would be able the hear or feel if it was clicking when the tails are turned on.

I had the same thing happen in my S-10(POS). It turned out the be the switch that was broken and had to be replaced. Once the switch was replaced it worked like a charm again. (the switch being the stick you use to turn them on). If no cheaper solution works, try replacing it.
