1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

I have a white 98 Civic EX, and I am looking at putting some Rota Slipstreams on it, but I don't know if I want 15's or 16's, and if I want flat black or charcoal color. It is dropped 2", but it can be dropped up to 4". I have a legit coilover and camber kit on it. My goal is to "Storm Troop" it (black grill, black tint, black rims, white body). Any suggestions on size and color? I wouldn't mind pictures too, if you have any?

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

As of right now i have about 700 to spend on it, but all I am looking for is rims, ill worry about tires for them this coming summer because I live in Minnesota and I wont be driving it in the winter. I am also looking for a b18 if you guys could give me a good place to find one?

I am looking for a machine finish black. I'm just not a huge fan of gloss black or chrome, I love flat or brushed colors, and I would rather stay under 16's. I don't want my car to be too flashy, but I want it too look clean.

17's really arent that big once they get on the car but 16's work too and primax has good quality rims and theyre priced reasonably. search junk yards around your area for the b18 the shouldn't be too hard for you to find

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

I think some 17" black Rota Grids would look nice on a white car

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

too much drop with 17" will make fender hugging tires, so choose wisely. You on the right way keeping under 16".

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

ha ha thank you sdaidoji. My original question was should I get 15s or 16s? but all I'm getting is people telling me to get 17s, but I really don't want that big of rims. I'm really leanin towards 15s though with a 245 tire.

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

Get the 15" rota slip streams. Everyone is saying 17s but wagon wheels have no use on civics.

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

One more question. Rim width on a 15 with a 40mm offset. should I go with 6.5" 7" or 7.5" if I want the smallest chance of rubbing with dropping it 2"?

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

6.5 for sure but you can probably get away with 7's

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

15" with a 205/45/15 tires and droped ur car a little more or do a 16" 205/45/16 and leave it at its height now...

dont go any bigger

as for color go all flat black or black with the machined polished lip and you will just be riding clean

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

yea 17s are way too big. im runnin 14" wheels on my stock height civic and it doesnt even look that bad. 14s or 15s are perfect, specially for a lower civic.

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

15's for sure. Remember that the bigger the wheel, the harder the car is going to have to work to rotate the wheel. My autocross rims are 14's and they work beautifully. 15's with coilovers will look legit.

Re: 1998 Civic EX Rim Opinion

I have a red 2000 civic ex coupe and my two front rims are bent so I figure if I have to replace them I might as well upgrade to some nice ones. I really like the look of factory rims I don't like anything to look to aftermarket but I asked my mechanic about these and he said there wasn't really anything like that available for my car. He told me to pick out a set from www.tirerack.com and then he can order them at cost and put them on. So I am trying to decide if I should stick to 14" and then I won't have to replace my tires (I think?) since that's what I already have or upgrade to 16" while I am at it. I am not due for new tires for at least another 2-3 years if I don't upgrade wheel size. Any suggestions? What finish do you think would look good wuth a red car? I seem to like alloy finishes...

Here is a set I found on tirerack that I think I would like and not too expensive either:
