I bought a 97 honda civic recently. It has cv joint problems so i pulled them and brought them to the auto parts store. When they brought me the post, i noticed the new ones are 4 inches too short. Everything have found says the passenger side should be 24 and some change but mine is 27. Why is that and how do i find a new one. Can i just rebuild the joint that's having problems? Only one side of the splines has wear. Please help! Thanks

Take those back and go to a different store, or better yet Honda.
the car is stock right not swapped? And you gave them all the correct info?

The transmission says it's a p2e, which seems to only be in the civic and del sol from 96-00. Every thing i can find has the same 24 inch measurement.

Definitely replace the entire CV unit. I bought mine from O'Reilly Auto and they had two different options listed ("American" and "Japanese"), the first one they gave me didn't fit but the other did. Try some other part stores, having the old one as a reference to take with you will make their job easy.
