I have a '99 Civic DX. The automatic lock switch will only lock all the doors, not unlock them. I don't have a remote. I was told it could be actuator in the driver's door.

So I ordered a new actuator, found an installation tutorial on YouTube and installed it myself. However, the same problem still occurs. So I think there is wire getting grounded somewhere that I need to find.

One additional problem that I've created for myself is that I shut the door with the door panel disassembled and now I can't open it. I tried pulling up on the lock pull but it doesn't move up or down. I tried pulling on the bar for the inside door handle but that doesn't open the door either. Can anyone help me get out of this mess?

Does the outer handle still work?
There is a little detent in the latch you can use to open the door if the latch seizes. I'll post the link to the write-up in the morning I'm on my phone right now

No the outer handle doesn't work. I can't unlock the door with the key or by pulling up on the lock pull.

dont know where the link went, it was from an integra site, this pdf has the write up though, used it on my girlfriend's car when the latch seized hope this helps

excellent guys. Once I get it out I will order a new one from honda, don't ever want this to happen again. LOL
