Im here looking for help with my car

1996 honda civic ex coupe manual trans. red milano
has roughly 290 xxx miles
always been service every 3k ( oil, filter and fluid check)


Mods:
aem short ram intake
invidia n1 exhaust with test pipe
short throw shifter
syper headlights with hid conversion

car has been running great since ive bought it, the last couple weeks ive noticed changes in the fuels mpg, low idle 300 rpms, but upon cold starts will sit at 1200 rpms. anyways two days ago i was on my way to work and the car just randomly started acting up, i was going 70 mph down the interstate when it felt like i shifted from 5th gear to 1st gear.. car stalled and coasted to the side of the interstate.. couldnt get the car to start back up.. about 30 minutes later just before the tow truck showed up it started and had trouble staying on.. so i gave it a little throttle and the sound the engine made was frightening... so i havent started it back up until i fully understand what could be the cause

i honestly dont even know where to start.. ive checked spark plugs, coolant, engine oil and trans fluid.. seemed normal besides a abnormal amount of oil on the undercarriage.

When was the last time the timing belt was done?

Might need to pull valve cover and inspect.
