Valve cover bolts and new grommets, how to get them on?

what kind of magic is required to put the new grommets on the original valve cover bolts?
I received these with the head gasket kit:

And I have these:

But I sure as hell cant see how to get the new grommets past the flare on the old bolt without tearing the grommet apart.
Boil them maybe, to soften them up? The one I drove onto the original bolt I tore the center out of, even using grease. I forgot to buy the Honda Special grommet stretcher tool

I've cut the old ones off and fought and fought to get the new ones on the bolts. Washer first, then the rubber.
Big vise and a deep socket might help.

Forget it. Keep using the originals LOL

I think I’ll buy them from Honda, well the two that leak anyway, and keep the others

Cut old ones off, gently force new ones on. Basically everything ezone said. Huge pain in the ***. Takes a metric **** ton of patience.

use a flat head to separate the metal bit from the rubber.
side cutters to cut the rubber off
socket and a hammer to put the new ones on, engine oil helps
