Hey, just a quick clarification if someone can chime in.
Im looking at replacing a blown D16Y8 in a 2000 Civic EX.
Ive have a lead on a reasonably priced JDM D16A Non VTEC.
Am i correct in my assumption that this is not a Y8 equivalent, but rather a Y7 equivalent.
Am i correct in my assumption that a direct swap will result in multiple CELS due to lack of VTEC and Crank sensor?
Is there anything other than a Y8 that can be swapped in without issue? Ideally i would put a low milage Y8 in and be done with it, but all I'm finding is JDM stuff or sketchy local pulls.
It is listed as both a Y8 and Y7 equivalent, which as far as i know is not possible. Y8 in question is over 250k, so i really don't want to swap anything over.
Trying not to get burned by a potentially clueless seller.
Thank You
