Rep Power: 0 D16A Intake Manifold On D17A2
Okay I've been doing some hunting. *still new at this.*
But by what I've come across I have found that the D16A Venom Intake Manifold will Fit the D17A2.
How much work will I have to do get this to fit. Or is it just a complete slide on?
As well would a D16A ITBS work on my D17A2?
http://zitec.cz/shop/intake/itbs/itbs.htm
Would the ITBS be worth it or would the IM be good?
Also could someone give me a link to a place that sells the Venom Intake mani. If not I'll try and find it myself.
Thanks.

i think only one person has done it and requires alot of custom work. also you better have a turbo with this otherwise the car will run like crap.

Anyways. What about the ITB? would that be a better choice? especially since I'm debaiting having the turbo or not. Depending on how my searching goes I may not turbo it and just keep it N/A

Okay After looking some more, I take its its the D16y8 not the D16A1.
I can't find the DIY on there. I have done a search and found more info on the site. But they all say someone is working the DIY?
Any links to that. I'm looking right now, so I may pop in and say nevermind.
Also is the ITB even possible on the d17a2?

No the venom one doesn't work. The runners are too long. Unless you want to hack into your firewall, you can't do it. It takes quite a bit of modification for the d16y8 manifold to work and if you have anything other than an 01-02 LX DX, you need a standalone EMS for it to work. Basically for it to work, you have to drill out a few holes and make an adapter for the throttle body along with a custom throttle cable bracket.

That doesn't work?
I don't mind cutting into crap. Makes no difference to me. But what I found, it seems he has done this and several other people seem to recommend it..
I'm not sure this is why I'm asking since I can't find a real how to.
anyways anyone know anything about the ITB yet?
also thanks for the help.

Question would I be able to get away with cutting the pipes a bit and then re welding them to fit into my engine bay?
Or would that affect somthing?
I may have to start thinking way outside the box on this.

NVM on the ITBS I found em, Now I just have to decide which one I want.
I guess the ITBS would be best if I kept the engine N/A and the Venom if I plan to turbo it in the future.

I know one was Barney. *Heard a lot of people had issues with him not giving full items on sells*
As for the ITB, I found it on a link, I only have the picture bookmarked but I do not remember who the own of the car was.

By what I have read up on again. the D16y8 doesn't come with a EGR on it?
So would I have to cut then weld my current EGR to it, Or would there be another way around this.
I'm searching so I may find the answer before. But it would be a big help if someone who has gone threw this 100% could help me out there

Re: D16A Intake Manifold On D17A2
if you have questions about the intake manifold you should really ask baron, he has one in his car and has it turboed, i bought my car and the previous owner had installed it, cant compare with another d17 because havent driven another stock one, ill post pictures soon
another thing is that the guy that did mine used the stock TB, modified a bit

I just pm'd you on 7thgen.. but as for those venom intake mani pics. Again, I said it can't be done 'without a lot of modification'. If you look carefully at that manifold, the runners have been cut and shortened. In addition to that, he is running some older gen TB, which I couldn't get to work. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I couldn't make it work. The IACV causes too many issues. He also had to run a resistor box and probably an injector driver for those injectors. He also converted to a return setup. You see where I'm going with this... My point is this: engines are just hunks of metal, with the proper understanding of how it all fits together you can make anything work if you try hard enough. ITB's are possible, it's been done. But from what I've read, the amount of work and headaches involved isn't worth the power gains. On a B series where N/A power is possible, yes it's a good setup.. but the d17 just doesn't have huge N/A potential, mostly from a cost standpoint.

But that seems like a bit to much work. I think I'll just do the y8 ones and give it a new coat of paint.
Thanks for the help.
