Camming my Civic

Hey I'm new to the Japanese Car Business. I was wondering if putting a performance cam in a civic is do-able. Is it commonly done? Is it even possible?

I have an 04 Civic D17A1 btw

Re: Camming my Civic

yes it is possible. I would recommend that you buy a d17a2 vtec head. Then when you need to take the head to the shop to put it in, you will still be able to drive you car. You should get a stage II Crower cam with new springs and retainers. And sense the head is of a port n polish is a must. And finish it off with Kpro!

Re: Camming my Civic

another reason is crower only makes new cams for the d17a2. the a1 they only do regrinds of the stock cam which is not reliable at all.

Re: Camming my Civic

1. A stage 1 cam doesn't require springs and retainers and a shop doesn't need to install it.
2. A d17a2 conversion is a must if you want a cam, like gearbox said.
3. You don't need to PnP the head, it will likely kill your torque for N/A.
4. With anything more than a stage 1 cam, you need engine management.

Re: Camming my Civic

Yep... kinda doesnt make it worth it because engine management is so expensive. If you do make the upgrade, you open the door to limitless upgrades in the future, and the resale value is always great with kpro.
