IAC repair tutorial
so if you have a rough idle or idle ralated issues its worth looking at the IAC or simple the idle valve .
the good thing is the idle valve the civic uses is serviceable so unless the coil is burned the problem is usually rust or debris .
the MAP and TPS can be cleaned in a similar way.
By checking the resistance you can make sure the TPS , MAP and Idle valve coil are working properly.
what is required .
1-wire brush
2-kitchen degreaser
3-ultrasonic cleaner ( a small one cost around 30$)
4-ultrasonic cleaning fluid i prefer ASNU brand or if not available water and a very small amount Laundry Detergent for non electronic parts.
5-gasket silicone
if your idle valve looks this bad it means the whole throttle body needs maintenance but that's anther write up.
1-you remove the idle valve from the throttle by removing the 4 bolts .

2-inspect for any physical damage any cracks or broken parts inside means that you need to replace it.

3-clean the whole thing with water and kitchen degreaser
4-using a wire brush clean as much as you can. for hard to reach areas i use a small electrical wire brush.

5-the ultrasonic cleaner will clean where you cant. keep the parts and the bolts for 15 to 20 minute in the ultrasonic cleaner.

6-let everything to dry and apply a small amount of silicone where needed.

Re: IAC repair tutorial

well there is a thing i forget to mention is testing the IAC .
its a 3 pin coil the center pin is positive and the other 2 negative one for opening the valve the other for closing .
if its stuck try to rotate it until its loosen again.
to rotate it you need to remove the electrical coil and rotate the small magnet
Also apply a little amount of silicone grease at the spring and where the pin meets the magnet to keep the valve moving as free as possible.
i dont see why the need to replace unless its broken since its a a very basic low tech device.
