Hello guys,

I am having difficulties with my 97 Civic EX coupe. When i'm shifting gears there is difficulty putting it into the gear and this happens for each one and is probably worst for reverse.

This started happening after i changed from the stock shifter to a used Skunk2 short shifter. after a couple months of usage i noticed that the shifts were getting harder and harder. When in neutral and in gear the shifter wobbles left and right a lot. This did not happen with the stock shifter.

After thinking that it may have been low on Transmission fluid i changed the fluid out with Honda MTF which did not work as it is still difficult to put the car into gear.

I also noticed that there is some transmission fluid leakage from the shift linkage. I checked for any leaks from the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder but didn't find any.

Please help me out here. Much appreciated.

Go back to stock if you can and see if the issue goes away.

If not there may be an issue with a synchro or bearing.
