Transmission Bearing Problem
I have a 1997 civic ex and I just took apart the transmission to replace the input shaft bearing. While I was in there I was inspecting all of the other bearings and I found one that makes a little noise when I move it forward and backward. It feels like it has a tiny bit of play in it and I was wondering if that means I need to also replace it. It is the second bearing to the top on the countershaft (not the snap ring bearing).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for location in the clusterf of gears and which bearing
Does it make noise or feel rough when you spin it?

So if you look at the countershaft (left side) there is a nut on top, then the first bearing where the snap ring goes, then under that is the bearing that I am having problems with.
It just makes a slight noise when I change the direction I spin it in. It doesnt feel rough at all. I read online that it is a needle rolling bearing instead of a ball bearing so I am just wondering if the noise is normal or it needs to be replaced. I would hate to buy a new one just to find out they all make a little noise!

Needle bearing......is a roller type,
Because it's a roller type bearing, I think a little bit of axial play between its races is to be expected.

Trying to condemn on account of noise is a judgement call you will have to make. If it were bad, I would expect it would have made a noticeable whine or growl noise while driving.
Based on its location in the gear set I think it would have changed pitch with road speed changes, and increased in volume as the gear change goes up (meaning pretty quiet in first gear, working up to loudest in 5th) IF it were making noise while driving.

Well when I was driving it the ISB was making all kinds of noise so it could have covered up the noise from this bearing. However as I increased speed all the noise got quieter. I already have the ISB replaces and it was definitely bad. Im probably going to take it to a transmission shop and have them take a look at it.

Your bad input shaft bearing(s?) You were definitely able to feel roughness when spun by hand?
I expect that if the countershaft bearing you are questioning were noisy while driving, it also would feel rough when you spin it....
But yeah, probably good idea to have someone familiar with bearings to double check you.
